Consumer Educational Literature and Promotional Items
Mohawk Valley Perinatal Network, Inc. distributes literature and promotional items on perinatal health, children's health and health insurance programs to provider offices and health and human service agencies. We provide the quarterly consumer newsletter, Healthy Beginnings, to physicians' offices and health and human service agencies, and offer translated literature as well, including brochures about folic acid, pre-term labor and SIDS risk reduction.

Resource Lending Library

Find books, demonstration aids and videos on everything from pregnancy, parenting and breastfeeding to maternal, child and family health. Borrow any resource free of charge.

Statistical information
In collaboration with the Oneida County Health Department, Herkimer County Public Health and regional perinatal centers, Mohawk Valley Perinatal Network provides up-to-date perinatal statistical information from the State Perinatal Data System to local health and human service providers in Herkimer and Oneida Counties. A perinatal needs assessment is published as Perinatal Issues and Needs in the Mohawk Valley, an essential resource for statistical information on maternal, child and family health topics.

Professional Networking

MVPN holds quarterly community meetings to provide information and statistics to a consortium of dedicated professionals, and to gather information on what they see as ongoing needs and trends in maternal and child health in the community. Our staff members regularly attend conferences and training sessions, allowing us to serve as a regional resource for providing up-to-date information to our community partners. We collaborate with and support them as they improve access to care throughout our network.

Educational Presentations
We provide regular educational presentations to health and human service providers on various perinatal health topics such as perinatal mood disorders, safe sleep environment, SIDS risk reduction, preconception care, folic acid and shaken baby syndrome. While the Perinatal Network sponsors two large conferences each year, the Nursing Student Conference and the Topics in Perinatal Health conference, our staff can provide speakers for physician grand rounds and information to frontline personnel as in-service training.

Newsletter

Promoting Healthy Beginnings, our free quarterly newsletter, addresses perinatal health issues and provides information on health resources, grants and upcoming educational opportunities.

Meetings with Health Providers

Our staff is available for individual meetings with physicians and their staff, in their offices and at times convenient to them, to discuss services available to providers and families through the Perinatal Network. We share information on various perinatal health topics and health insurance programs, and organize meetings with nurse managers from PCAP clinics and labor and delivery units, lactation consultants, and WIC staff for networking, sharing information and discussing clinical best practices.
